The term 'sparkling wine' refers to wines made in the Champagne style that do not originate in the Champagne region of France. Often white and comprised of Chardonnay or Pinot Noir grapes, sparkling wines may also be blended with other varietals and do not need to be 'white'. These sparkling wines are referred to as 'rose'.
