Winemaker's Comments: 2003 Gravity Hills Base Camp Syrah
The very cold nights at this vineyard protect the balance within the fruit making a wine extremely exuberant. A very friendly Syrah to enjoy. The bouquet is intense and red-fruit packed with floral and vanilla overtones. It is straightforward but also very complex - perfumed full of exuberant, light, fresh, intense and extremely inviting red berries. A dense, ripe and concentrated wine loaded with berries, vanilla, and hints of coffee and gamy nuances all melded together.
The mouthfeel is fresh and lively. In addition to warm days and cold nights, the vineyard soil (fractured limestone) brings a strong mineral character to the wine and a great sense of purity.
It finishes very long, fresh with red fruit presence.
A very good tannin structure assures this wine's drinkability for few years but does not detract from early consumption.

Floating Cork Wine Review & Rating By Jeff O'Brien |

Nice aroma, but dirty taste and grimy texture like grape juice after your 5 year old nephew got done playing in a creek and accidentally dropped a rock he was showing off into your glass. Sharp and fairly sour, but still palatable.
