Winemaker's Comments: 2003 Sterling Vintners Collection Merlot
Deep ruby red, color, with big blackberry and blackberry pie aromas, as well as toasty oak and vanilla. Complex, with more subtle cherry-cola notes. On the palate are mouth filling cherry-berry tannins, which are round yet offer nice mouth feel and a long finish. Drink this with beef dishes and other entrees with richer sauces.

The winemaker describes the taste and aroma as "fruit forward". I could discern an indistinct berry-ish Orange Julius-like smoothie as I slurped the wine in the roof of my mouth, "reverse-tasting" as it were - more like "fruit neutral" says I! Also, like other blended fruit drinks, this one had a nice aroma and sweet taste, but slightly sour finish. I have had better, pip pip.
