Winemaker's Comments: 2004 Lincourt Santa Barbara County Chardonnay
A blend of three of Santa Barbara’s most distinct Chardonnay vineyards, this wine offers layers of character. Primarily sourced from Santa Maria Valley’s famed Bien Nacido (65%) and Solomon Hills (21%) vineyards, the balance comes from Rancho Santa Rosa in the Santa Rita Hills. Each a cool-climate property, fruit was hand-harvested, whole-cluster pressed, barrel fermented and aged in French oak casks (40% new). In barrel, the wine was aged for 11 months and completed malolactic fermentation. Perfumed tropical and citrus notes mingle with vanilla, mineral and floral tones. In the mouth, rich and creamy textures are balanced with fruit and firm acid levels. Drink now through 2010.
